EC-12 8-2-2025

Good weather, fair winds… what more could you ask for! Well maybe a little more wind would have been nice. Alain was sailing his VM against the EC-12’s but was trying out a new rig and not really getting the performance expected. At times it was looking very fast though, just not on all points of sail. Interesting racing with four skippers got at least one first! End of the day Greg came out on top.

Sorry, got this out a little late.

V36 #2 7/26/2025

Another good weather day! The breeze, although rather light, were fairly consistent for Sandy Pond without the usual “swirlies” because the breezes were generally form the East for a change. Racing got off to a very slow start because just before the first start Alain’s rudder servo died. He quickly replaced it using one of Chris’s spares only to find that one was DOA also. Alain sat out the first two races during which Jerry remembered he had one in his car and Alain finally got in on the action in the third race. On the course there were a number of weed calls and boats in the thick weeds along the shore having to be retrieved so racing was called at 3:00 with only nine races being completed. Noted that there were numerous position changes throughout the day.

VM

Amazingly we saw the sun! We were greeted with light, finicky breezes coming out of the west ( the worst direction for Sandy Pond “swirlies”), weeds were, unfortunately, abundant, and dead spots abundant. In spite of this, we got in 12 races as shown below. Cliff outclassed the pack including a few races where he was trailing weeds at the finish line. Chris, sailing the only Classic, took second, with Rick Laird closely behind. Jerry was having rudder problems which, after final pull out, was identified as a bad rudder pushrod (slip fit connection that could move in and out).

5th Annual V36 Open

This regatta should be called ” The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly”. The Good: NO RAIN!!!. The Bad: Weeds were being picked up fairly regularly. and the Ugly: Breeze started off light, increased a little through the day but were fickle and swirly throughout. Auto-tacks were common and it seemed that just after everyone tacked for a wind shift, it would shift back. Alain had problems with his boat from the get-go and finally retired after his rudder servo finally quit for good. All in all, after a shortened 8 race regatta, the results are below.

EC-12 #1

Finally we got a regatta in! Not the best of conditions including a few periods of light sprinkles, some challenging wind shifts, few serious knock down gusts and several youths fishing on our course from the dock ( Ask Greg- he was “caught” just before the finish line holding first at the time) but the six skippers endured through 12 races ( Except Rick Laird who arrived after three had been completed). Results below:

V36 Regatta Cancelled Again Due To Weather

OK, for the 6th week in a row, I am announcing the cancellation of the V36 racing tomorrow. There is a 70-80% chance of rain and thunderstorms, and again, no one’s life is worth a boat race. I am sorry and looking into a witch or shaman to cast a nice weather spell on our club. P.S. We do get together on Wednesdays and race sometimes, if you are interested, email me and we can meet at the pond, and I will let others know so we can race/sail this year. crimsonpirate78@yahoo.com
