Nice weather, better breezes than forecast, comfortable temperatures, partly cloudy skies and minimal weeds… life is good! Add to that no mechanical problems until the last race when Chris’s receiver battery died (with just enough electrons to get back to the dock!). On the water, Cliff and Herb were locked into their first and secondContinue reading “V36 9-13-2025”

VM 9-6-2025
We got the regatta in! With probably the most fickle winds of the year, tornado warnings and full overcast with some very dark clouds rolling through, it was an interesting day. As we packed our cars we noticed raindrops on the pond even. Chris and I were sailing classics and the other 3 were allContinue reading “VM 9-6-2025”
EC-12 8-30-2025
What a beautiful day! Partly cloudy with temps in the high 70’s. The breezes? Well… shall we say less than optimal. The Nashua Swirlies were out in force and Mother Nature couldn’t decide where the wind was coming from. At times two boats were abreast about a foot apart and on opposite tacks and thisContinue reading “EC-12 8-30-2025”
V36 8-23-2025
What a day! Temperature in the low 80’s, mostly clear skies and the best breezes we’ve had all year. Prior to racing we even had 2 schooners on the water for tuning. Cliff and Alain brought their boats in anticipation of the Vintage Nationals to be held in New Jersey in October. On racing, youContinue reading “V36 8-23-2025”
VM 8-9-2025
Sunny day and, amazingly, no rain again! The breeze could have definitely been stronger, but we made do. Before the first race Chris’s boat’s rudder servo decided to retire but, luckily, steered straight to the far side where it could be retrieved from the walkway. Weeds were somewhat of a problem but have been worseContinue reading “VM 8-9-2025”
EC-12 8-2-2025
Good weather, fair winds… what more could you ask for! Well maybe a little more wind would have been nice. Alain was sailing his VM against the EC-12’s but was trying out a new rig and not really getting the performance expected. At times it was looking very fast though, just not on all pointsContinue reading “EC-12 8-2-2025”
V36 #2 7/26/2025
Another good weather day! The breeze, although rather light, were fairly consistent for Sandy Pond without the usual “swirlies” because the breezes were generally form the East for a change. Racing got off to a very slow start because just before the first start Alain’s rudder servo died. He quickly replaced it using one ofContinue reading “V36 #2 7/26/2025”
VM
Amazingly we saw the sun! We were greeted with light, finicky breezes coming out of the west ( the worst direction for Sandy Pond “swirlies”), weeds were, unfortunately, abundant, and dead spots abundant. In spite of this, we got in 12 races as shown below. Cliff outclassed the pack including a few races where heContinue reading “VM”
5th Annual V36 Open
This regatta should be called ” The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly”. The Good: NO RAIN!!!. The Bad: Weeds were being picked up fairly regularly. and the Ugly: Breeze started off light, increased a little through the day but were fickle and swirly throughout. Auto-tacks were common and it seemed that just after everyoneContinue reading “5th Annual V36 Open”
EC-12 6/28 Cancelled
With 50% chance of rain and possible thunderstorms, the prudent thing to do is cancel. 9 cancelled out of 10 with a light shower on the 10th, seems someone has it out for us.
