Working on a date for a meeting to discuss our 2023 season looking at late January or early February in person at the Pine St eatery.
Herb Dreher Wins 2nd Annual V36 Open
Great fall weather with very light winds and long race times made for a 6 race regatta. Jim Linville, due to receiver problems, had to retire early, however the other 5 skippers continued through less than ideal conditions. Herb Dreher again takes first with Cliff Martin just behind. Chris O’Brien, sailing Cliff’s other boat, came in third, followed by Rick Laird ( fourth) and Rick Gates ( fifth). Due to Jim Linville’s radio problems, Jim rounded out the field in sixth.

Jim Linville (6), Cliff Martin (2), Herb Dreher (1), Rick Laird (4), Chris O’Brien (3)

Tim Wright Wins Old Man Of The Mountain Regatta
After what would be an ominous start and little to no wind. The 3 sailors hit the water for 9 races and a bunch of fun an experimenting with sails and such. Tim Wright took the win with a perfect score with Rick Gates and John Lamport chasing him.

Rick Laird For The Win
With a good wind and weeds clearing very nicely, the racing was good and solid but as always the wind was a bit shifty and slow at times. Herb picked up a huge weed first race and later in the day Cliff found a bag and some nasty weeds slowing him down for 2 races. End of the day Rick Laird edged out Herb Dreher for the win.

Pond Treated For Weeds
Unexpectedly on last Friday the town had the pond treated with Captain XTR , an algaecide, so hopefully our persistent floating weed clump problem might be coming to an end just in time for the remainder of the season. We will be checking often to see if it works!
Herb wins twice again!
EC-12 R3 and R4 were held today with 3 skippers ( 4th boat scratched due to ripped sail). Herb again takes 1st for both 12 race regattas! Mark Fleckenstein came in second in both regattas with Rick Gates and Chris O’Brien rounding out the field sharing a boat after missing multiple races due to a sheet failure. Conditions were less than ideal with weed patches peppering the modified course. Winds, although rather light, were fairly steady but shifty. Wind shifts were a deciding factor in several heats, making for interesting spectating.

Vintage M This Saturday Cancelled !
The title says it all.
VM Venue Change!
Due to the continuing weed problem at Sandy Pond, the VM race this Saturday has been moved to Minuteman’s Rosemary Lake . Same time, 1:00PM. Sorry for the inconvenience.
2nd Annual V36 Open Rescheduled
The 2nd Annual V36 Open has been rescheduled on October 29,2022.
2nd Annual V36 Open postponed.
Algae clumps invaded the racecourse as the first race was started and got much worse from there. Combine this with high heat and humidity ( Real-Feel temp of 105°) and fickle breeze that dropped dramatically about 1/2 way through the first race caused the decision to postpone the regatta to a later, still to be determined, date. 6 skippers attended. High point of the day was Cliff Martin sailing his Riptide, which was started about 10 years ago, for the first time.
