Herb Dreher again came out on top in the V36 Regatta 3. A very late start and early finish caused by many floating weed patches made for only 5 races to be completed. Winds were mostly adequate but shifty which, along with the weed patches, made for difficult conditions. Our thanks to the participants for their perseverance!

It is with a heavy heart I must once again cancel the EC-12 race. The forecast has us at a 70% chance of thunderstorms, just rain and we could have raced but no one will be zapped on my pond. Enjoy your 4th and we will see you soon.

On Saturday, June 18 several NMYC members competed in Wolfeboro at the Sasquatch Footy Regatta. With heavy winds, 15mph with gusts to 25, our members braved very difficult conditions and took the top 3 positions. Alain Jousse took 1st, Rick Gates took 2nd and Cliff Martin took 3rd. Congratulations skippers!

We had Rick, Alain, and Chris show up. As race time approached, the wind shifted and blew a large number of weeds onto the course causing impossible racing conditions. Because of this, racing was canceled and will be a made up at a later date. The good news is that most of the weed is starting to disappear and should be gone by our next race of EC12s on July 2nd. 

5 skippers again competed in the second V36 regatta of the season under fluky winds with the added problem of many floating weed islands. Herb again out sailed the fleet and after 10 races were completed, the regatta was called. Alain had a few control issues with his boat and withdrew early. See Gallery for photos.

Rick has stepped down as Commodore due to personal reasons and Chris O’Brien has stepped up to fill the vacancy. We wish both good luck.

Again, due to weather conditions, a regatta is postponed due to weather. An iffy call proved to be the correct one as a thunder/lightning cell moved through the area at around 1PM. It will be rescheduled.

5 skippers competed in the first V36 regatta of the season under fairly light shifty breezes. Herb out sailed the fleet and after 6 races were completed the regatta was called. Jim had several boat issues which knocked him out of competition unfortunately.

On what could be called a light wind day, 4 DF-95s took to the pond to battle for the win of the first series race of the season.

Rick G. pulled out a victory for the day with Chris O. getting 2nd and our newest member David finishing off the top 3. A huge shout out to Alain J.

for coming and sailing until his boat broke and had to retire early finishing him in 4th place. I look forward to seeing the V36s taking to the pond next week (5-21-22) at 1 pm. 

Five intrepid skippers brought their VM’s ( 4 High Fliers and one Traditional ) for the first regatta in the series.  Four were launched but, due to conditions of very of high winds, it was decided that cancelling was the best option.  Throughout the week preceding, we were worried that the almost dead calm conditions would continue into the weekend.  We couldn’t have been more wrong!  I do know that Chris O’Brien’s keel was visiting the air for most of his time on the water and everyone’s gunnels were almost constantly awash.
