An interesting weather day. Forecast said mid 40’s and winds 15 with gusts to 30. Well…it was cold but the wind wasn’t that strong. What it was was continuously shifting and VERY spotty. Boats no more than a few feet apart were regularly in different weather… one with sails full and heeled over and the other just sitting with slack sails or on the opposite tack. As a result many place changes occurred, some inches before the finish. On the water Chris just couldn’t catch a break. Just as they were called for the first race one of his lines parted causing him to miss the first two races. Then, after finishing third in the eighth, he noticed he had no control over his main. Checking his below deck sheeting he found tangles and knots with at least one loop off the winch. He then retired for the day. Cliff read these shifting conditions batter than the others and earned a well deserved first with the others well behind the pace.
