First regatta of a doubleheader that ran 10:30-12:30. 5 boats started out but Herb’s boat started having control problems at the conclusion of the first race but he was able to get it to shore. Replacing the battery seemed to solve the problem but during the second race it reoccurred and kayak retrieval by Rick Gates was necessary this time. While the racing continued under the watchful eye of Chris O’Brien ( Thanks Chris), Herb and I tried to correct the problem to no avail. In the end, we believe the RMG winch might be the culprit which will be checked when the boat gets home. On the water Cliff takes the honors coping with light, swirly, squirrelly, and inconsistent breezes. Rick Laird took second with a new boat followed by Alain and Rick Gates to round out the places. 9 races were completed before an early break for lunch.
